First established in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter, the first Sunday after Labor Day is known as "Grandparents Day," a time to honor those people who play such an important role in a child's life. For the first time this year, the St. Charles Park District is offering a timely - and tasty! - way for families to celebrate with Grandma and Grandpa. The family can enjoy a scrumptious spaghetti supper at Abby's Restaurant from 3 to 5 PM on Sunday, September 10 - Grandparent's Day.
"We're really happy to have Abby's Restaurant help us provide families with a great way to get together for this special holiday," said Cheryl Riley, Family Programs Supervisor.
Following their meal, participants will make a special commemorative craft to take home in honor of the special holiday. The cost of the program is $15 per person for residents and $20 for non-residents. Registration is required. Abby's Restaurant is located at 11 North 3rd Street in St. Charles.
For fans of the movie, "Frozen," characters Olaf, Elsa and Anna are just like family and for children who can't wait for the new "Frozen 2" movie to come out in November 2019, the "Frozen Ball" held on Saturday, September 23, from 6 to 7:30 PM at Pottawatomie Community Center. The "Frozen" gang will all be there - Anna and Elsa and Olaf, too! - and children are encouraged to come costumed as their favorite character. A DJ will make sure the dance party is really chill, and a bounce house will be there for kids to jump around in so they can get their blood flowing again! Light refreshments will be served and a photo booth will help kids capture all the cool fun for their memory books! Appropriate for children ages 3 and older, the cost is $12 per child for residents, $18 for non-residents. Registration is required.
