Meeting Special Needs

Meeting the special needs of individuals with disabilities is important to the St. Charles Park Board. Along with other area park districts, the St. Charles Park District is a founding member of the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA), ), which provides year round recreational programs for individuals with disabilities by working with staff to mainstream participants into Park District sponsored recreation programs.

Formed in 1976, FVSRA is a leader in mainstreaming participants into recreation programs, which are designed to include opportunities that enhance skill development and socialization, encourage self-awareness and community exploration, promote independence through personal choice of least restrictive environments and provide a sense of enjoyment, satisfaction and fulfillment.

A playground accessible to individuals with disabilities is located at Davis School/Park and maintained by the Park District.
