Pool Rules

The Park District strives to offer a pleasant experience for public swimming. The following rules were established to provide a clean and safe environment. Most pool accidents occur on deck and in the shallow water through simple carelessness, horseplay and running. Please obey all pool rules and lifeguards. They ensure everyone's protection and enjoyment.

Personal Conduct
1. All persons are encouraged to take a shower before entering the pool area.
2. Girls, ages 6 & older, should use the women’s locker room.
3. Boys, ages 6 & older, should use the men’s locker room.
4. Swim suits only, please. The following are NOT appropriate swim attire: sports bras, sports shorts and basketball shorts, cut off jeans, underwear, thong bikinis or suits that are deemed too revealing for a family environment because of transparency, cut, or tightness of fit.
5. Children who are not toilet-trained must wear disposable swim diapers.
6. Please - no spitting, spouting of water or blowing the nose in the water.
7. Do not drink the pool water.
8. Rough play and running are not allowed.
9. Persons violating personal conduct regulations, written or verbal, may be subject to disciplinary action or asked to leave without a refund.
10. Individuals who are prone to experiencing seizures should notify the pool manager.
11. All state and local health laws apply.
12. All patrons are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and appropriate manner at all times. When a person’s safety is jeopardized, staff has the right to take disciplinary action.
13. The use of camera and other picture-taking equipment, including cell phones, is prohibited in the locker rooms.

Supervision of Children
1. Parents or guardians must be responsible for supervising their children. Lifeguards are on duty to enforce rules and to respond in case of an emergency.
2. Children, ages 10 & under, must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, age 16 or older.

Play Toys/Swim Devices
1. Play toys are restricted to the east end of the small pool and sand play area.
2. Small inflatable swimming devices and flotation jackets may be used in the east end of small pool and within an arm’s reach of a chaperone. Large rafts or rings are prohibited.
3. Masks, snorkels and fins are allowed with the manager’s permission.

Diving/Lap Swimming
1. Please use diving boards with caution. All swimmers, age 17 & under, and weaker swimmers may be required to pass a swim test before using diving boards.
2. One person on the board at a time. One bounce allowed per diver. Hanging on the board is prohibited. Divers may only use a forward approach off the board.
3. Diving is prohibited in the pool (except off the diving board). Diving under lane lines is prohibited (except in the small pool).
4. Swimming lanes are designated for adult lap swimming. Swim to the right of the blue line in your lane.

Slide Rules
1. Patrons must be 42 inches tall to use the slide.
2. Wait for attendant to signal before going down the slide.Clear the pool immediately after the ride.
3. Enter and exit the slide feet first. Stopping and standing in the slide is not allowed.
4. Metal and/or plastic objects, including keys and jewelry are not allowed while using the slide.

Food/Beverages/Lounges
1. Personal lounges and chairs are allowed in designated area. All lounges and chairs must be 4ft. from the pool’s edge.
2. Smoking is not allowed in the pool facility.
3. Eating and drinking are permitted only on the upper concession deck.
4. Gum chewing is not allowed in the pool facility.
5. Glass containers of any kind are not permitted in the pool facility.

Pool Closing Guidelines
The Park District reserves the right to reduce pool operations or close the pool due to inclement weather, low attendance or low staff. The pool will close if any of the following conditions are present:

• Inclement weather including strong rain, lightening, tornado, etc. Refunds will not be given for inclement weather.
• Air temperature is below 65 degrees.
• Attendance is severely reduced.
• Posted special events.
• Health & safety of the general public is endangered.

The following procedures will be taken when the Pool Manager decides to close the pool:
1. Repeated announcements will be made as to the time the pool will close.
2. A sign indicating the pool will be closing early will be placed at the entrance.
3. Cashiers will notify patrons of the early closing time as they enter the facility. Refunds will not be issued for daily admissions.
