AWARD WINNING GOLF COURSE
Over a six-year period, the Park District implemented
significant improvements to the golf course with the
goal of accommodating more varied play on safe and
well-maintained grounds while remaining sensitive to
the heritage of the facility and the intent
of its original architect, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. In recognition of the many capital improvements made over the last several years, the District has been honored with the:
2007 Illinois Park & Recreation Association’s Outstanding Facility Award
2006 Community Image Award from the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce
Ranking third for best area public golf course by the
West Suburban Living’s 11th Annual Best of the West contest
Pottawatomie
Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in 1939, is a
course which provides enjoyment for all golfing abilities. This
regulation 9-hole golf course, owned and operated by the St. Charles
Park District, is located next to the Fox River, just off north
Second Avenue, north of Pottawatomie Park and swimming pools.
The
Pro Shop (located in the north end of the pool building) offers
quality merchandise at reasonable prices, concessions, rentals
of clubs, pull carts, riding cars, professional golf instruction,
club repair service, and various golf tournaments to meet every
age level and ability. If you have any questions or concerns
about the golf operations, please call the Pro Shop.
On
October 3, 1997, Pottawatomie Golf Course was certified by the
Audubon International. It is the first 9-hole golf course internationally
to receive this certification and the 11th in Illinois. Every
precaution has been taken to protect the environment and wildlife.
Please respect natural areas.
