Conditions
for Making Outdoor Ice
The District needs three (3) consecutive days of weather at
15° or lower to begin
freezing the outdoor rinks. This cold spell must be followed
by at least five (5) days of weather below 32° before the
ice can be used for skating.
Ice
Skating Rinks
The Park District's outdoor ice skating rinks are open daily,
weather and ice conditions permitting. Ice rink conditions are
available each weekday from 12 to 5 p.m.
For your family's safety, please
use facilities only when they are open. All rinks are lighted
until 9 p.m.
The following parks will be maintained as skating and hockey
areas. There is no charge for use of any of the following facilities:
Timber Trails - Ice Skating
Langum Park - Hockey
Please use the public access areas to parks in residential areas,
and respect the privacy and property of the residents surrounding
these parks.
General Skating and Hockey Rules
Crack the whip and other rough games are prohibited.
Hockey is allowed at Langum Park only.
Hockey players should use full equipment for their own safety.
No slap shots allowed.
Sledding
Sledding is permitted at Langum Park, facing Route 25 and at
Timber Trails Park. Sledding is not permitted in Pottawatomie
Park. Lighted facilites are not available.
Snowshoe
Rental
The Park District has 14 pairs of plastic snowshoes available
for rent to individuals, families or groups. Parties renting
snowshoes must complete a reservation request form and pre-pay
for the rental. Weekday rentals for a half day cost $1.50/pair. Arrangements
for pick-up and return of shoes must be made at the time of
reservation. Weekend rentals cost $5/pair. Shoes must be picked
up by 4 p.m. on Friday and returned Monday before noon. For
